Background    St Patrick is a French layout inspired by Augustenthal on the meter gauge Kreis Altenaer Eisenbahn {KAE}. The KAE was built as three separate lines Altena–Lüdenscheid (15km) in 1887, Werdoh-Augustenthal (10Km) in 1887, and Schalksmühle–Halver (10Km) in 1888. In 1905 the Werdoh-Augustenthal line was extended 6Km to Lüdenscheid and in 1925 a 2.5Km spur was built from Augustenthal to the Plate steel works at Brüninghausen. In 1955 passenger services were withdrawn from the Werdohl-Lüdenscheid line. Augustenthal became a terminus till 1967 when goods services were withdrawn. Prototypically the only goods facility is a loading dock. The major changes are an exchange siding has been added to the station to handle mine traffic, the spur runs to a mine, and is worked by a loco provided by the mining company.

Passenger traffic is surprisingly heavy with at its peak thirteen trains a day (some mixed). The mine is the main source of goods shipping coal and receiving pit props and this & that. The second source of traffic is logs. There's some general goods normally moved by mixed train. Two to three goods trains are run daily.
