The imaginary Menalhyl Valley Branch would run from a junction west of Quintrel Downs Platform, across Goss Moor, drop down into the valley, pass through St Columb Major and terminating at
Mawgan Porth.

he aim of the railway was to develop the areas farming, mining, and tourism helping by Mawgan Porth seaside location. Despite the Porth there was no port though historically coasters could dry out in the bay and load/unload.
