Lincoln Boulevard - UNDER CONSTRUCTION

0, Pennsylvania Railroad, 12 @ 2 foot

15/7 the pipe bridge in situ and the hut veneered.

The pipe bridge is in situ and the core of the hut containing valves etc built.

14/7 Lincoln Boulevard now has traffic

The signs are in position

The pipe bridge is well under way

12/7 Lincoln Boulevard had a very successful test run.

Lincoln Boulevard is largely complete

The most noticeable change will be a pipe bridge screening the hole in the back scene.

I'm awaiting another road vehicle.

More people, cats, and dogs need adding.

Further details need adding.

5/7 the layout has gained its second coat of grass and flowers (though not to many) plus a road turnbuckle.

What road markings are appropriate for 1960s Pennsylvania? Some photos suggest none!

4/7 the layout has got its bushes and first layer of grass.

A more prototypical 1955 Chevy Cameo Pickup will replace the Ford model T Pickup

3/7 a significant moment the buildings are largely finished and glued in place.

The gate is to imply the yard goes further into another factory

2/7 The buildings etc are painted. I've started weathering but some of the buildings are being a pain.

The trestle has been filled.

1/7 over the weekend the buildings etc were given more coats of paint.

The ground was covered in earth (from my garden).

The track was ballasted. In the USA earth is used to ballast track and this is represented by sieved builders ballast.
The trestle has got its loads left aggregate (large, medium, & small) and right coal (run of mine, sized, & large).

29/6 Doors and gates have been built. They and buildings are being painted.

Hopefully painting will finish tomorrow and I can move on to details & mounting.

27/6 the buildings, doors, and level crossing timber work have had a couple of coats of paint.

I'm waiting for delivery of plastikard to build doors, gates, & fences and finish off the roofs.

I've decided this end of the layout will have a small and very low relief factory, fence, and a gate implying the track goes further.

26/6 more building veneering.

I've almost finished veneering and I'm waiting for a Plastikard order to finish off.
I've started on doors and the crossing timber work
I also stained the trestle timber work to bring out the grain and mute the brightness.

25/6 more spare time so I was able to push veneering forward.

Though difficult to see there's been more work in the back scene.

24/6 I had some time today so started to veneer the building.

Veneering gives buildings there texture.

I was also able to paint the sleepers dark brown to remove the plastic sheen.

22/6 The core of two more buildings have been built from mounting board.
The buildings gives a much better idea of the layouts appearance.

The building on the left will be Millers Brewery warehouse and on the right a freight house (goods shed in UK terms).
The rails have had a second coat of 'rust'.

21/6 The core of two buildings have been built from mounting board.

The building on the left is a timber merchant and on the right a paper wholesaler.

The rail sides have been painted Hunbrol brick to make them look rusty.

14/6 the last section of track has been put in over the trestle.

13/6 the sides of Lincoln Boulevard have been feathered.

1/6 Running tests.

29/5 The trestle's woodwork is completed.

28/5 work on the boulevard has started.
The sides of the trestle have been planked and the beam put in.
The back scene has had a second coat of sky blue
.

23/5 the layout was wired.

24/5 the pouch for the trestle was built and the backscene painted.

22/5 The track is laid. The coal & aggregate dump where the track with out cork underlay.

3/5 the track plan has been agreed.

27/4 the baseboards with legs have been built.

Construction of the layout will start in early April.  It will be exhibited for the first time on 31/8.
This web page will show its development then the completed layout.
