Newborough is a village and needs limited goods facilities - most traffic is
from the colliery and quarry
Llangristiolus Colliery
The colliery is named after the last proposed coal mine in Anglesey
Office and smithy
The coal is winched out of the mine, cleaned & screened and loaded into wagons.
Hengae Quarries
Aggregate traffic from the near by Hengae Granite Quarries
Panoramas of the layout
The layout as at close of play 4/4/24
The colliery with quarry loader behind
The station buildings & platform at the back and Goods shed & loading bank on
the right
The layout as of 2.4.24
A test runs shown the coal tank and six wheel coach can travel anywhere on
the layout.
The temporary wiring is in and worked.
The track is in
Next is temporary wiring
So stock can be checked on the curves and clearance checked
We'd particularly like to run LNWR coal tanks and four wheel coaches
A few hours work the fiddle yard is almost complete
The track plan has changed with a cross over in the fiddle yard
This will allow longer trains and there's more space for stock on the scenic
board.
The fiddle yard
Mock up of the layout
The track except for three points and building won't be used
This is the third plan previous plans failed as they couldn't cope with the coal
tank and six wheel coach.
A deeper baseboard and Peco set track curved points have eased the curves
making it possible for to run the coal tank and six wheelers.
We will test in early March to see if my new plan works!
If things go according to plan there will be a convenient space for the all
important coffee mug.
